The recent landslide in Puchong, Malaysia, at the Vision Garden area resulted in the collapse of the road in front of homes after a heavy downpour on the night of the 16th. Emergency services swiftly evacuated nine families from the surrounding nine double-storey terraced houses as a safety precaution. Luckily, no casualties were reported.
The affected area spanned about 3,000 square meters, with the subsidence reaching a depth of approximately 3 meters. Among the unfortunate consequences, four cars—a Honda Jazz sedan, Honda City sedan, Nissan Skyline, and Naza Citra SUV—were buried by the landslide.
Moreover, the shifting soil caused underground water pipes to burst, exacerbating the situation. The adjacent IOI shopping mall also suffered from lightning floods, leading to damage for 65 cars parked in the outdoor lots and affecting 71 businesses within the mall.
The combination of the landslide and the subsequent flooding due to heavy rain has created significant challenges for both the residential area and the nearby commercial space. The authorities are actively managing the aftermath to ensure safety and address the damages caused by these natural events.
